Intravenous therapy is swiftly becoming one of the most popular and effective ways to administer nutrients, vitamins, minerals, antioxidants, and other essential compounds directly into the body. By bypassing the digestive system, IV therapy allows for quicker absorption and higher dosages. Whether you’re aiming to boost your energy, prepare for a workout, or need hangover relief, an IV infusion is an excellent way to get nutrients into your system.

Here are a few steps you can take before your first appointment to maximize the benefits of your IV infusion:

1. Relax!

We understand that receiving an IV injection can be intimidating, especially for first-timers. Rest assured, our team of highly-qualified nurses at Drip IV Portugal will take care of you every step of the way. If you have any questions, you have a few ways to find support:

2. Hydrate & Snack

While it might seem counterintuitive to hydrate before a treatment designed to provide hydration, we advise to drink plenty of water. Dehydration can cause your veins to contract, making it harder to administer an IV infusion. Additionally, eating a light snack will help stabilize your blood sugar levels, reducing the risk of nausea and light-headedness during and after your session.

3. Avoid Vasoconstriction Drugs

If possible, avoid taking over-the-counter antihistamines or decongestants the morning of your appointment. These medications can cause your blood vessels to contract, complicating the IV process. If you’re on prescription medications that cause vasoconstriction, stay extra hydrated prior to your treatment to help counteract these effects.

4. Dress for Comfort

Comfort is key when dressing for your IV therapy session, where you may be sitting for 45-60 minutes. Wear something you’ll be comfortable sitting in for that period. Ensure your inner elbow veins are easily accessible, and consider layering for temperature control. Opt for easy-to-remove bottoms if you need to use the restroom during your session.

5. Bring Entertainment

Drip IV sessions can already be quite entertaining when you have booked a group session with multiple friends and loved ones!

And if you've booked an individual session, you may already have a plan for a self-care routine such as practicing mindfulness and meditation, knitting, or drawing during your session. These are excellent calming exercises that will contribute to a relaxing and peaceful experience.

But if you're struggling with what to do during your session, here are a few other examples of ways to pass the time:

  • Reading a book or listening to an audiobook

  • Listening to podcasts or music

  • Doing a crossword or other puzzle games

  • Creative writing

  • Journaling

  • Catching up with friends or family through video calls

  • Watching Netflix

  • Working or studying

By following these tips, you’ll be well-prepared for your first appointment with Drip IV Portugal. Understanding both pre-care and post-care for your IV injection will help you maximize the benefits of your treatment while ensuring your safety. Happy dripping!
